RETREAT OR TOUR?
RETREATS
Retreats are normally two-three day events.
Retreats can provide a “mini-vacation” for attendees.
Retreats are usually held at a camp, resort, hotel, or church
Retreats allow for connecting with old friends, meeting new friends, and enjoying times of recreation and fellowship.
Retreats may offer workshops, informative sessions, and special presentations in addition to “main service” events.
Retreats involve more times, travel and costs, which may discourage some from attending.
TOURS
Tours take your “event” to several locations.
Tours allow more people to participate
Tours require little or no travel for most attendees.
Tours are one-day or one-night events, which may be attractive to some.
Tours require minimal costs to participants.
Tours allow more Pastors and Church SAM leaders to participate.
Tours may require less financial expenditures from the sponsoring District or Church.
BANQUET TOURS
A Tour can be greatly enhanced by making it a BANQUET TOUR!
Designate a “host church” in the city where the Banquet is to be held.
Appoint a committee to coordinate, plan and prepare for the Banquet.
Promote thoroughly and well in advance.
Banquets can be held at a church, restaurant, or community facility.
If the Banquet is held someplace other than a restaurant, meals can be prepared by the host church or catered.
Keep the cost affordable but adequate to cover expenses.
Banquets can be held at noon or evening, and should be no more than two hours in length (approximately one hour for the meal and one hour for the program).
Present an exciting, appealing program – speaker, music, entertainment, inspirational, etc.
