REACH OUT AND TOUCH SOMEONE

Often during the holiday season, people who are alone or those who have lost a close friend or loved one during the holidays need a little extra cheer. You can help to provide this by calling them on the telephone.

  • Ask the Lord to impress on you the people who need an extra word of encouragement during the holidays.
  • As the Holy Spirit brings them to your mind, make a list and the possible reason they may need a kind word.
  • Look up the telephone numbers and jot them down.
  • Again, ask the Lord to direct you as far as the timing is concerned and the words you should say. Try not to call during meal times or too late in the evening.
  • Choose an uplifting scripture to quote to them before you end your conversation.
  • Go down your list and spend a little time encouraging your friends. Keep the conversation positive.
  • Be willing to LISTEN if your friends need a friendly ear.
  • You may consider offering to pray a short prayer for them.

Remember, your purpose for calling someone is to encourage them. Respect their time and schedule. Just let them know you care.
