Orville and Yvonne Carlson – In 1952 Orville and Yvonne Carlson were preparing to go as missionaries to Calcutta, India, but their visas were never granted. Assemblies of God missions leaders asked if they would be willing to go to nearby East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) where missionaries were desperately needed. A mission’s career that spanned nearly fifty years was launched!
In 1965 the Carlsons went to Fiji where they established South Pacific Bible College, and Orville served as its president. Fijian believers affectionately called him “the white man with a brown man’s heart.”
From 1986-1991 Orville taught bible school in Jamaica. There followed short-term assignments in Guyana, Bahamas, and Latvia.
Orville Carlson was promoted into the presence of the Lord on March 27, 2002. Yvonne currently is a resident at Maranatha Manor in Springfield, Missouri.
