Meet The National Director

Dave Weston

Dave Weston - Senior Adult Ministries DirectorThe Assemblies of God Board of Administration has announced that David Weston has agreed to become the new director of the Assemblies of God national Senior Adult Ministries program effective June 19, 2006.

A graduate of Central Bible College (AG) in Springfield, Missouri, Weston has been serving in church music ministry for the past 48 years with his wife Ladonna at several locations in California and Missouri. His resume includes being a member of the Blackwood Brothers for three years as well as serving on the music faculty at CBC.

For the past 25 years, the Westons have been on staff at Park Crest Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri. Over the last 18 years, Weston has also directed the church's senior adult ministries and had pastoral care responsibilities.

"David and his wife Ladonna have served many years in fervent and effective ministry at Park Crest Assembly of God in the areas of music and senior adult ministries," says AG Assistant General Superintendent Charles T. Crabtree. "They bring a great passion to see seniors continue serving with spiritual power and effectiveness."

"I was not expecting this - this appointment came out of the clear blue," Weston says. "But senior adult ministry is so vitally important to our Fellowship.

Weston is clearly anticipating the opportunity to help affirm seniors as resources, role models, enablers and sources of stability and vitality to the church.

"We don't want our seniors placed on a shelf, but whole-heartedly involved in the ministries of their local church," he says.

"I have appreciated the ministry to seniors from the Senior Adult Ministries Department, and the contribution of those who have preceded me," Weston continues. "It is upon this foundation that we can continue to build and expand this vital ministry across our Fellowship."

As the SAM directorship has now been transitioned into a part-time position, Weston says he will also continue to serve Park Crest AG in the area of pastoral care.

The Westons have been married 48 years. They have two children: Todd, senior pastor at First AG in Manhattan, Kansas; and Cheri, wife of David Crabtree, senior pastor of Calvary Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. They also have six grandchildren.
