A Program with Success Written all over It.

The “Sunshine for Seniors” program has had an amazing success it’s first year in existence. A report released by the Department of Elder Affairs here in the state shows clients who received prescription drug assistance from the Sunshine for Seniors’ volunteer counselors have already saved an estimated $464,070 in 2004.

According to the report:

The Sunshine for Seniors program served 3,572 clients.

There are more than 250 volunteer counselors trained to provide assistance to elders.

The program was created to assist low-income elders with obtaining prescription drugs from manufacturers’ pharmaceutical assistance programs. Clients receive prescription drug counseling services through on-site counseling centers, information and referral hotlines, the Florida Elder Helpline, health fairs and through local outreach presentations, such as coming to your church group.

All Sunshine for Seniors services are provided to elders and their caregiver free of charge and a volunteer counselor would be excited about coming to your group and making a presentation.

This is just another way for us as leaders to minister to those we tend and love so deeply. There is no reason that those under our pastoral care, unable to secure most high cost medications, which they depend upon, are not able receive them.
